The Rescue

I think I am on a reading frenzy! I just finished reading 'The Rescue' by Nicholas Sparks (I see a trend happening!), it took me 3.5 days and it leaves me wanting to read more of his books!

Although this book was not the greatest, I did enjoy it. It starts off with action right away and it somehow gets you in the mood to read it. Soon thought it turns into a lovely romance. There wasn't any one part of the book that stood out, but there was a few shockers in there that made me want to continue reading.

What I love about Sparks novels is, his endings are not always happy and or sad. There unpredictable and its a fresh twist to some novels that always end with a happy ending.

If your ever out of book ideas,I would recommend picking 'The Rescue' up. It isn't a page turner but its a nice read for sure.

Squirrelaholic

Squirrels!! I love them, I don't know why but I find them so adorable and if you really stop and watch them its neat to see how they do things.

Squirrels are part of the rodent family - yes I know mice and rats ewwww but much much cuter and cleaner! They only eat a diet of plants and nuts, on occasion if desperate they will eat insects. Did you know that squirrels cannot digest the nutrients in raw peanuts, they get more nutrients from roasted peanuts, and yes I sometimes roast them and leave them on our kitchen window sill for them, along with 12 grain bread; what can I say, I am a squirrelaholic!

During the fall /early winter squirrels will look for food and bury it underground, so they can come back and retrieve it during the winter months. They can smell food through snow! Amazing isn't it.
Now Iam sure we all have experience driving and a squirrel is about to run across the road and it stops runs across in a zig zag way, this is there defence mechanism, they do this to trick what they believe is pray and confuse them. Unfortunately this is usually the end of there lives, because they get run over.

So next time you have some stale bread or nuts leave them out for your little furry friends of the Forrest, Iam sure they will appreciate it!

Dear John

A few days ago I borrowed this book from a friend (Thanks Lua!), and I started it last night, I got to page 175 and had to stop because 1. it was late and 2 N had arrived home and I didn't want to be rude...also I had been reading for at least 4 hours.

What a book, it started off a tad slow, but by the 3rd chapter I was so engrossed I could not put it down, such emotion, and feeling came tumbling out of the book, at times my heart ached for the main character John, I wanted to step inside the book and hug him!

I finished the book today, I didn't cry much to my surprise, because everyone who I have talked to said they cried. I think I was expecting to cry and that is why I didn't. The book was a great read, and I feel like I need to read it again to pick up on things I did not the first time, and if you know anything about me, that is I do not re-read books!

One thing that really surprise me was that I didn't even realize a male author had written it, I tend to only read female author/female based character books because I find it easier to connect with the character. But the way Nicholas Sparks writes, I had no problem connecting with the main character and feeling for him.

I recommend you pick this book up one a weekend when you have time to read it all, because trust me, once you start, it is very hard to put down!

Happy Valentine's Day!

OK so I am a few hours late, but I hope everyone enjoyed there Valentine's Day, no matter what you did.

I had a great Valentine's Day, nothing planned very relaxed and both N and I enjoyed it very much! After sleeping in, which was a treat in itself, he presented me with a dozen beautiful pink roses and a helium balloon that says "I Love You" and lots and lots of chocolate Mmmmmm yummy!

We had a great dinner at Baton Rouge and wanted to go see the new movie called Valentine's Day but alas it was sold out, so we relaxed at home, and had a great time.

I think Vday is a cute little day to do something special with your special someone, I do think it is a tad hyped up, I mean you should be showing your love 365 days a year not just today, but it gives us an excuse to get chocolate and eat it too!

I hope you all had a great day, and I hope that love follows you all year, not just today!

Olympics!

Well in only a few days the 2010 Vancouver Olympics will begin! I love the Olympics, I love watching all the sports and seeing such passion and enthusiasm in all the athletes faces and the JOY of them winning and succeeding in what I am sure was many many years of practise sweat tears and struggles.

What makes it even more exciting is Canada is hosting the Olympics! It will be great to see pictures of Vancouver and all they have done to prepare for this big event.

Let the games begin!!

Will you be watching the Olympics?

Excuse me...whats in your bag?!

I got this idea from another blogger (http://threestridestudios.blogspot.com/) and so I thought I would follow so here are the contents of my purse. I have many many purses, but this purple one has become the one I have been wearing for a few months now and I really like it, it’s very big and roomy and has a few compartments inside which is always handy. It also has 2 side pockets which is great for my cell phone and keys.

The purse I found at ALDO a few months back and loved it instantly! Then I have my winter staples...purple mittens and my sparkly purple hat (can you see a colour theme here).
Then we have my latest book I am reading – ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ by Elizabeth Gilbert, beside that my favourite wallet which I have had for well over 4 years...and I must say it still looks brand new, not because I don’t use it but I think it’s just really good quality.

Then of course a girls best..Well ok second best friend, my cell phone. The girl’s best friend award goes to ...drum roll, my lip glosses! I have 9 in my purse, yes 9. BUT I love them all and use them. I have more at home because I hate having to go in my purse when I am home to get lip stuff. Actually I will not even tell you how many lip glosses I have! It’s too much for 1 person 
My work keys are also important and always in my purse, as well as the hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works, and the cute Chinese compact mirror my cousin brought me back from China. All this gets stored along with my lip gloss in the purple suede cosmetic bag pictured.

My day book, which I use mostly for work and to store coupons I want to use and a tiny calendar because my life is so hectic...NOT. Beside that is my hand cream...a must! Mini hairspray, gum and Tylenol...it’s usually Advil but I ran out.
I didn’t bother taking a picture of all the receipts and pamphlets and other garbage I have in my purse, hence why I like it so big! I think this might be a great time to clean my purse out, maybe take a few pounds off my shoulder.

So tell me dear blogger friends, what’s in your purse?
