Squirrelaholic

Squirrels!! I love them, I don't know why but I find them so adorable and if you really stop and watch them its neat to see how they do things.

Squirrels are part of the rodent family - yes I know mice and rats ewwww but much much cuter and cleaner! They only eat a diet of plants and nuts, on occasion if desperate they will eat insects. Did you know that squirrels cannot digest the nutrients in raw peanuts, they get more nutrients from roasted peanuts, and yes I sometimes roast them and leave them on our kitchen window sill for them, along with 12 grain bread; what can I say, I am a squirrelaholic!

During the fall /early winter squirrels will look for food and bury it underground, so they can come back and retrieve it during the winter months. They can smell food through snow! Amazing isn't it.
Now Iam sure we all have experience driving and a squirrel is about to run across the road and it stops runs across in a zig zag way, this is there defence mechanism, they do this to trick what they believe is pray and confuse them. Unfortunately this is usually the end of there lives, because they get run over.

So next time you have some stale bread or nuts leave them out for your little furry friends of the Forrest, Iam sure they will appreciate it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

OK so I am a few hours late, but I hope everyone enjoyed there Valentine's Day, no matter what you did.

I had a great Valentine's Day, nothing planned very relaxed and both N and I enjoyed it very much! After sleeping in, which was a treat in itself, he presented me with a dozen beautiful pink roses and a helium balloon that says "I Love You" and lots and lots of chocolate Mmmmmm yummy!

We had a great dinner at Baton Rouge and wanted to go see the new movie called Valentine's Day but alas it was sold out, so we relaxed at home, and had a great time.

I think Vday is a cute little day to do something special with your special someone, I do think it is a tad hyped up, I mean you should be showing your love 365 days a year not just today, but it gives us an excuse to get chocolate and eat it too!

I hope you all had a great day, and I hope that love follows you all year, not just today!

Excuse me...whats in your bag?!

I got this idea from another blogger (http://threestridestudios.blogspot.com/) and so I thought I would follow so here are the contents of my purse. I have many many purses, but this purple one has become the one I have been wearing for a few months now and I really like it, it’s very big and roomy and has a few compartments inside which is always handy. It also has 2 side pockets which is great for my cell phone and keys.

The purse I found at ALDO a few months back and loved it instantly! Then I have my winter staples...purple mittens and my sparkly purple hat (can you see a colour theme here).
Then we have my latest book I am reading – ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ by Elizabeth Gilbert, beside that my favourite wallet which I have had for well over 4 years...and I must say it still looks brand new, not because I don’t use it but I think it’s just really good quality.

Then of course a girls best..Well ok second best friend, my cell phone. The girl’s best friend award goes to ...drum roll, my lip glosses! I have 9 in my purse, yes 9. BUT I love them all and use them. I have more at home because I hate having to go in my purse when I am home to get lip stuff. Actually I will not even tell you how many lip glosses I have! It’s too much for 1 person 
My work keys are also important and always in my purse, as well as the hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works, and the cute Chinese compact mirror my cousin brought me back from China. All this gets stored along with my lip gloss in the purple suede cosmetic bag pictured.

My day book, which I use mostly for work and to store coupons I want to use and a tiny calendar because my life is so hectic...NOT. Beside that is my hand cream...a must! Mini hairspray, gum and Tylenol...it’s usually Advil but I ran out.
I didn’t bother taking a picture of all the receipts and pamphlets and other garbage I have in my purse, hence why I like it so big! I think this might be a great time to clean my purse out, maybe take a few pounds off my shoulder.

So tell me dear blogger friends, what’s in your purse?

2009 a retrospect

A friend had this on her blog and I really liked the idea of putting 2009 in restrospect. So here is mine...a tad late but better then never!

01. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
Got an office job – finally!

02. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I don’t make any...I have stopped due to lack of completion LOL Its too hard to have that hanging over my head...so I just go with the flow and hope for the best!

03. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No

04. Did anyone close to you die?
Thank Goodness 2009 was allot better than 2008 in the respect.

05. What countries did you visit?
Ummm Canada hehe

06. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A home with N...not inhabited by my in-laws

07. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The week N went away to Serbia and I was alone for the first time with his parents...weird week!

08. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Landing a great job which will give me the experience I need to further my career goal

09. What was your biggest failure?
Not moving out when we had planned, due to circumstances with our economy N was laid off and that meant we both had no work! No work + no money = no home

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Once again...2009 was a better year in this department compared to 2008 – much stronger then before!.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Hmm well there is a few...we bought a 31 piece stainless steel pan and pot set from Wolfgang Puck for our new place...it was on sale and could not , not buy it! Most of the best things we bought involve our ‘new ‘place, we think it will be less stressful on us to have things so when the time comes we are not rushing and scrambling to buy these items. Plus sometimes you happen upon a great sale and cannot say NO!

12. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Sister – there is things I think she should be doing that she says she is but clearly she is not and she is getting nowhere and it’s been like this for years. Problem being ...all her problems are created by “others” not her. It’s the case of the Pity Me’s.

13. Where did most of your money go?
Eating out – we do this every weekend because it’s a way to escape the in-laws and have time for us. Once we have our own place though I cannot wait to start making yummy meals and actually getting to relax in our own place.

14. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
A few things come to mind; when my mom said she was going to visit her sisters in Europe for 3 months ( I was so happy for her, she can finally do things like this due to retirement), Going to Rogers Cup to see my fav tennis players. Being able to go home for 11 days during Christmas.

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder?
Happier.
thinner or fatter?
Ummm really I think the same
richer or poorer?
Richer. (due to having a job LOL)

16. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Exercising.

17. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Eating haha, focusing on negative things

18. How did you spend Christmas?
With my favourite people on the planet, my family and BF

19. Did you fall in love in 2009?
I fall in love every day more and more with N (I know soooo cheesy!)

20. What was your favourite TV program?
Big Brother, Amazing Race, Unwrapped

21. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Hate is a strong word....so no

22. What was the best book you read?
Sophie Kinsella’s - Twenties Girl; made me laugh out loud!

23. What did you want and not get?
I am being repetitive I know! A home for BF and I

24. What was your favourite film of 2009?
Oh goodness...umm way to many to name but these come to mind – Taken, The Proposal, The Box – I don’t know why these came to mind.

25. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went home to visit, it was Easter weekend. Had cake and allot of food and presents – turned 26

26. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A license and a home.

27
. What kept you sane?. BF

28. Who did you miss?
My Mom, because she is about 4 hours away.

29. Who was the best new person you met?
There are a few girls on a certain website  you know who you are

30. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009
Not really a life lesson but, if your worrying about something now, ask yourself if it will matter in 1 month, 2 months etc...if no then FORGET ABOUT IT!

Sunday...bloody Sunday

I hate the end of the weekend...I have always really disliked Sunday. Everything seems to end on Sundays.

If you go on vacation, it usually ends on a Sunday, if someone comes to visit; they usually leave on a Sunday. The weekend ends on a Sunday. It makes me sad!

I wish these things could last forever...but alas they can’t and we must start the week over and anticipate the weekend again!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Happy New Year...again!

Tonight is Serbian New Years; actually it is New Years for anyone that follows the Julian calendar (Ukrainians, Russians, Bulgarians and most Slavic Eastern European Countries). This New Years is sometimes referred to as The Old New Years. The Julian calendar was introduced in 45 BC by Julius Caesar, it was the only calendar used until the 1500 when some countries started using the Gregorian calendar which we use today.
I can’t speak for other religions or cultures but in the Serbian culture, Dec 31 is party time and Jan 13 is a time for friends and family and to remember our roots and continue to hold them dear. Many people will stay home with friends and family and have food and drink. Here in Canada, especially in big metropolitan cities such as Toronto there will be parties for the younger crowds at Serbian clubs/bars.
So to anyone celebrating tonight I wish you a Sretna Nova Godina! (Happy New Years)!

Woe is Me

Here is a quote I like to think I came up with but I could be wrong, " Life is a buffet, you need to get up and get what you want!"
I say this often when I come in contact with friends or family who seem to always think...'oh why is nothing working out for me', or 'why is life easier for others but not me', or 'why can't this and this just happen to me'.
Look people, life is hard, its a struggle. people are dealing with issues big and small, and we should not be the ones to say "look what they have, why can't I have that" Everything comes with a price. Just because someone has money doesn't mean they have happiness, health love etc...there is always something missing. and Vice versa.
I am a big advocate of going after what you want, no one will get it for you, it won't just fall from they sky. You need to seek it go after it, grab it and never let go!
I am sure we all wish that every time we wanted something it would just appear...would't that be grand? Of course!! And sometimes things happen easier then other things but that doesn't mean that you can sit and let life pass you by because you think your entitled to it...that you don't have to do anything and it will happen. Along with this comes attitude, how can you possible achieve your goals if your negative all the time? we are our biggest fans, and our one and only best friend, if you think you can't do something then you probably won't accomplish it because your so negative! Everyone fails, that does not mean your a failure....get back up and try again! A failure is the one that stays down and doesn't try again!
Know I am not saying that I am Miss go getter and have the best attitude, by no means at all. I have my days when I just wish life would give me everything....it doesn't and so I have to think of plan B. I just think how great life could be if everyone tried there hardest to live there best.

Welcome!
