Ten on Tuesday..on Wednesday

I always have such a hard time finding blog topics and I was reading a fellow bloggers blog (Hi Laura!) and she has started doing Ten on Tuesday which is ten random questions the blogger answers on Tuesdays. I know I am a little late, but I have decided to do this weekly, so here is yesterdays Ten on Tuesday brought to you a day late!

1.What book, movie or song has made you want to travel to a particular place? (eg. I went to Prince Edward Island because I was such a Anne of Green Gables fan)
At the moment there is no book, movie or song I can think of – I basically want to go everywhere in the world!

2. Aside from your significant other, who would you want to take with you on a dream trip?
I would want to take my mom, she is truly my best friend and I can tell her anything and it always seems she has the right answer, even if at the time I don’t think it is.

3. Where would said dream trip be to?
I would love to go with N and my mom to Serbia (there birth countries). I have been before but that was when I was a teenager. I would love to go know and see where N grew up and go to places I didn’t go with my mom when we were there before. Since I am older now I can appreciate the time we all spend together better.

4. If you were hosting guests or providing tips, what three things would you show visitors to your hometown? (be it where you live now or where you grew up)
Well I grew up in Sudbury, On and to be honest it is a very nice city especially in the summer! So I would take my guests first to The Big Nickel which is a super big 5 cent statue made from real nickel! Then we would go for a tour under ground of the mines, they take you under just like they take the real miners and you get to tour and dig for your own treasures, and lastly we would check Science North. It is a snowflake shaped science centre and has everything inside from flying squirrels to how your body works!

5. If you had a long weekend ahead of you, where you head – beach, city or country/mountains?
I would love to go to the country or maybe to a cottage by the lake. Just away from the city, have BBQ’s, relax and enjoy nature.

6. Do you have a passport? If so, did you get it for a particular trip or just to have, in case?
Yes I have a passport, I got it a few years ago when I went to Vienna, Austria. So far its come in handy many more times!

7. Are there any travel souvenirs you collect? If not, is there something else you collect?
I love picking up a post card or two from places I travel. But no there isn’t anything I specifically collect.

8. If you could name a paint colour, what colour would it be and what would you call it?
Hmm since I love pinks and purples I would go for a darkish purple with a hint of pinky red in it and call it Burnt Cherries!

9. If you were heading away for a weekend citybreak solo, where would you go? (forget about practicality here and flight times, assume you can get to any city in the world for the weekend)
This is tough because everywhere I want to go I want to experience it with N, I don’t think going alone to ...say Paris would be the same without him. So I would probably want to go somewhere I can relax and just read a book on the beach and when I want to jump in the water – probably somewhere tropical where I am waited on hand and foot.

10. Is there a song or a smell or something that you strongly associate with a particular holiday/place/time, such that it always takes you back?
The smell of Oil of Olay – my mom used it (still does) when I was a child and every night when she would tuck me in I remember smelling it on her and it’s the most comforting smell ever. I just love it, reminds me of my mom.

Oh what a month!

Oh my goodness it’s been forever since I blogged! The last month has been hectic to say the least!
N was injured at work last month and it was a week of hospitals and surgeries and emotional breakdowns but he is doing better and soon will get his cast off and start physio.
Long story short, a very heavy machine came down on N’s hand due to a new employee who was not trained properly. It all could have been avoided if the machine had safety on it, but sadly it took this accident to happen for them to fix all the machine to have a safety laser.
N needed emergency surgery and had a few pins and metal plate put in. He is doing really well and surprisingly not in as much pain as I thought he would be.
It could have been worse and I thank our lucky stars that its better then what I had running through my head when I got the call N was hurt, it truly was one of the worst calls I have ever received.

Thankful Wednesday

I just felt like I needed to share a few things I am thankful for, considering the past few days – even week have been stressful to say the least.

-I am thankful that N is doing well, and what could have been a terrible accident only caused minor damage – I cringe thinking of what could have happened if his hand was farther in the machine.

-I am thankful that I have such great friends – even in only online that care and show concern, they truly made yesterday easier for me.

-I am thankful for my family, and how concerned they were for N, and how they were willing to help him and myself as much as possible even though they are so far away.

-Last but not least, I am thankful that N is home safe and sound. Accidents of any kind make you realize how precious the time we have with loved ones is.

Yummerific!

Why is there a picture of Rob Pattinson on my blog you ask??

Because I like it! LOL

Enjoy!

Favourite Olympic Moments!

The time has come and gone and we must wait yet again for the Olympics. What a great 2 weeks it has been, Canada did awesome! We took home 14 Gold medals, the most any host country has won on home soil. Here are some of my fav moments from the past 2 weeks!

The Opening Ceremonies, they were really nice and I loved the parade of athletes! I also really liked how they brought the athletes in early so they could enjoy the games, usually the parade is towards the end.

Jon Montgomery, what can I say but I think he was the happiest gold medalist ever! What I love about him is his story, he decided a few years ago he wanted to be in the Olympics, then he chose the coolest sport and started training! How cool is that!

I love figure skating, and I loved that Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir from Canada won gold in it! There performance was amazing, and these two have amazing chemistry! I was so happy when they won, and I think they were too!

Joannie Rochette, what an inspiration to all! Her mother passed away the second Sunday of the Olympics and Joannie was to skate on Tuesday, she decided to stay and dedicate her skate to her mother, and what a fantastic job she did! She won bronze, and deservedly so!

Do I even have to say anything?! Canada's Men's Hockey team won GOLD! What a game it was, but in the end we prevailed and it was a perfect ending to a perfect 2 weeks!

Some honourable mentions go to:

Petra Majdic - Slovenian Cross Country skier. During practice she slipped off the track and fell 5m in a ditch. She broke 2 ribs and punctured a lung, but she insisted on racing...in sever pain she competed and won bronze! The first metal in this category for her country and there only one during this winter Olympics. Now that is courage and strength!

The Norwegian Men's Curling Team and there pants! Everyone was talking about the pants, and in some way there pants brightened these Olympic games, and I am sure will not be forgotten anytime soon!

I also loved the closing ceremonies, it embodied everything Canadian, even if we are made fun of it! I loved the inflatable moose and beavers and music and loved seeing Micheal J Fox speaking about being Canadian. What a great way to end it all!

What were your fav moments and what will you always remember from the 2010 Olympic Games?
